What is Fusidic Acid?
Fusidic acid is an antibiotic. It works by preventing bacterial growth. It is primarily used to treat bacterial infections of the skin and eyes that cause redness and irritation. Fusidic Acid is only available on prescription. It is available as an eye drop, cream, or ointment.
Purpose: Fusidic Acid cream and ointment are antibacterial treatments that block protein synthesis in bacteria and typically treat skin infections quickly, especially when they only affect a small patch of skin. A liquid medication or antibiotic tablets may be required if the infection is more severe.
